A Promise of Ice and Spite- S.W. Clarke Review🗡️

Thank you to the S.W. Clarke for trusting me as an ARC reader! This review reflects my honest thoughts. There are books you enjoy, and then there are books that completely take over your brain while you’re reading them. A Promise of Ice and Spite by S.W. Clarke firmly falls into the second category for me. This is the second and final installment in the Crown of Feyreign duet, and it delivers exactly what a finale should: higher stakes, bigger twists, emotional payoff, and a battle sequence that deserves its own standing ovation. And yes, this is an easy 5⭐ read for me, honestly for the battle scenes alone. The magic of the world feels alive. One small detail that really stuck with me was how the author describes the feeling of magic changing depending on the location. It’s a subtle piece of continued worldbuilding, but it adds so much depth. The shift in magical atmosphere between regions isn’t just mentioned in passing. It’s described as drastic and tangible, like stepping into ...

The Shattered Veil Series- The First Scar by Celeanne Dorrington🗡️🖤 Review

So I'm gonna change up a little bit of how I write reviews, particularly for ARC reviews. I don't post spoilers for ARC reads because that's just rude, obviously. With that said I feel like sometimes it's hard to read a big review without knowing what the story is about so I'm going to start including a blurb of the book before my actual review. I feel like doing so will result in a better understanding of my reviews. I know it's gonna seem like a lot to read but if you want to just get to the review you can skip the blurb. 😊 That being said let's get into it.  Blurb: In the realm of the fae, your soul mark is your fate. Revered luminar, or enslaved shadowmarked. But you were born with both. They call you a threat. An abomination. He is the Crownforged Hunter, and his sole purpose is to strike you down. But the prophecy hints at a chilling truth, and a forbidden bond reveals a soul-deep connection you can’t ignore: the same wound, in two different bodies. I...

ARC April 📚🌷🐰

In my last post I teased an announcement.  That announcement is 🥁 April is here by known as ARC April!!!  What does this even mean???  Well, this means that the month of April, I'm dedicating my reading to ARCs. I've got 3 amazing books lined up that I am EXTREMELY excited about. 😁  With that being said, after April, I'm taking time off from ARC reading to catch up on my severely neglected TBR. I've got books on my shelf that have been BEGGING me to read them. 😫 So after these ARCs I'll be taking some time to show them the love they deserve. 🤎  This doesn't mean that I'm not going to be writing. If I'm reading, I have thoughts and I want to talk about those thoughts. So you better believe I'm gonna be writing. 🤪 I'm also working on a ✨ giveaway ✨  I don't have the details yet but make sure you're following all my socials, links are located on the homepage. 🤎  Thank you guys for making this dream of mine into a reality. It means the...

Bride of Ash and Dust🌹🖤 by Meredith Hart Review

🚨 DISCLAIMER 🚨 I was sent an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. All thoughts and opinions are my own.  Bride of Ash and Dust by Meredith Hart was such a solid start to what I think is going to be a really addictive romantasy series. One thing that stood out right away was the chapter structure. Super short chapters with alternating POVs between the two main characters. At first, it threw off the pacing for me a bit. It felt a little too choppy, like the story couldn’t quite settle. But as the book went on, it definitely evened out. The chapters stay short, but the flow improves and starts to feel more intentional. And listen, no spoilers, but Lilias eating the wedding cake off the sword?😱 Yeah. That was probably my favorite moment. Absolute power move. I was obsessed. Also, Zarek. We love Zarek. Period. That man can get it. The way he shut down that disgusting “men don’t have a stopping point” mindset?? Immediate respect. Because the rage I felt reading L...

A Storm in Every Heart-Kate King🩵🧜🏻‍♀️ Review

Fun fact: Kate King is actually the very first author I ever ARC reviewed for. I read A Thorn in Every Heart (the book that comes before this one), and I absolutely loved it so I went into this one with high expectations. And somehow…she exceeded them. A Storm in Every Heart is a mashup retelling inspired by The Princess Bride, The Little Mermaid, and Pirates of the Caribbean, which sounds like it should be chaotic but it’s not. At all. I genuinely don’t know how she pulled it off, but she did. The story weaves in so many recognizable elements from these inspirations without ever feeling overcrowded or overwhelming. The flow stays smooth, and the story never loses itself trying to do too much. That said, the pacing toward the ending felt a little off but not in a way that took away from the overall experience. This is what I’d call a solid vibes read. It’s perfect if you’re coming off a heavy fantasy or just need something lighter without sacrificing story. I actually read this be...

A Curse of Storms and Scorn by S.W. Clarke🗡️ Review

So this book was a JOURNEY . I mean, I spent half the book questioning my understanding of the world and the lore, and the other half diving headfirst into all of it. The writing in this story is heavily detailed. I don’t necessarily say that as a negative, however, at times it can feel monotonous. Other times, the heavy detail really works. Also, when I say this, I don’t mean heavily detailed in terms of world-building. I mean heavily detailed as in repeatedly explaining how something tastes, feels, or looks. Personally, I felt like the author used description to thoroughly explain how different Sylvanwild was from Eury’s home, which is great for pushing a reader to relate to the main character’s struggle. But when you get to a certain point in the story, it’s like, “Okay, we get it.” Again, this is only my personal opinion. I’m well aware that some readers enjoy heavy detail like that, and that’s completely fine and absolutely valid. The only reason I’m mentioning it is because ...

Haunt by Meg Alivien👻 Review

Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book and am leaving my honest review. I did read and review the other books in the Monster Boyfriend Series. They are in the previous post.  Going into Haunt, I already had a sense of the cozy, spooky atmosphere that the Monster Boyfriend Series delivers. What I didn’t expect was just how much I would end up loving this one. One of the things I appreciated right away was the tone of Theodore’s POV. Because he isn’t from the modern era, the author uses a slightly different voice for him compared to the other characters, and it really works. It makes his perspective feel distinct while also reinforcing that sense that he comes from another time.  I also really appreciated the representation in Kennedy’s character. Her struggle with reading comprehension hit close to home for me. When I was younger, I struggled with reading because of a learning deficit. My mom loved books and wanted to pass that passion on to me, so she adapted by getting me...
