Inherit the Stars✨ by Amy Ressa Review

Oh my stars!!! It’s my very first review for my blog, and I am SO excited, so let’s get into it.

Fair warning: there are minor spoilers ahead. Nothing that gives away major plot points, but I do talk about characters and a few moments I loved.

I found Amy on TikTok when she was looking for ARC readers for Inherit the Stars. She described it as a Sailor Moon inspired fantasy romance, and I was immediately sold. That description also raised my standards higher than usual for an ARC read. Sorry, Amy!! I’m sure as a fellow Sailor Moon fan you understand. 😆

And let me just say she surpassed every expectation.

This book is near God-tier for me. The world-building is layered and thoughtful: easy to follow, but never simplistic. The political system is fragile, complex, and constantly on the brink, something you really feel as the story unfolds.

It gave me the sense that Amy took inspiration from characters like Sailor Venus and Sailor Mars and reimagined them as dignitaries ruling their own territories. While the characters aren’t direct copies, the foundational inspiration feels intentional and creative. She took something she loved and made it entirely her own and that kind of creativity is beautiful.

Amy also managed to genuinely surprise me, which is hard to do especially when I trust absolutely no one in fictional political systems. Characters I assumed would oppose our FMC quickly became favorites. And Lord Castor? I just adore him.

And our Tuxedo Mask–coded MMC? Uhm… YES. Absolute perfection. Great, great job, Amy. 😍

And that ending? Ma’am. We need to talk. 😆

I will absolutely be signing up to ARC read the next book because I don’t know how I’m supposed to wait otherwise.

Now I want to share something personal because it matters.

I am a bisexual woman, and while that’s never been something I’ve been ashamed of, I deeply value meaningful representation. As someone in a long-term monogamous relationship with a cis man, I’ve experienced moments where my sexuality felt erased. Being with a man doesn’t make me any less bisexual, just as being with a woman wouldn’t either.

I’ve read many “why choose” and reverse harem stories, and I enjoy them. But this one felt different. The bisexual representation here felt intentional and respectful. The FMC’s multiple love interests didn’t feel like a trope for shock value it felt authentic. It resonated with me in a way I didn’t expect.

And Amy? I’m going to need more of Ren. Immediately. 😆 Please?

At its core, Inherit the Stars is about a woman finding herself in a society that’s nearly collapsing. She’s learning about her past, navigating dangerous politics, and trying to create peace in a fragile world.

Congratulations, Amy, on your debut novel. Thank you for trusting me as one of your early readers. You truly knocked it out of the park, and I cannot wait to see what comes next.
