Monster Boyfriend Series by Meg Alivien🐺🧛🏼 Review
Sometimes you pick up a book because you're looking for something specific. In this case, I was looking for something cozy, a little spooky, and quick to read and that's exactly what I found in the Monster Boyfriend Series by Meg Alivien.
These books feel a bit like Halloweentown meets Hallmark, with just enough spice to keep things interesting. They’re quick reads that lean into cozy vibes while still delivering monster romance fun.
Book One: Howl ⭐⭐⭐
Howl was a cute introduction to the series. The overall atmosphere was exactly what I hoped for. Cozy, slightly spooky, and perfect for fall reading.
The romance definitely leans spicy, though the execution felt a little uneven at times. Some scenes were very open-door and detailed, while others shifted from open-door to implication that an act had happened, which made the pacing of those moments feel a little inconsistent.
That said, it was still an enjoyable read. I’d especially recommend it for readers who want a cozy Halloween romance or something lighter between heavier books.
Book Two: Hunt ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I ended up enjoying Hunt quite a bit more than the first book. The themes landed better for me and the story felt stronger overall.
The cozy Halloweentown-meets-Hallmark vibe continues here, but the writing felt a bit smoother and the spice scenes were more consistent this time around.
It’s still a quick, fun read, but this one really felt like the series found its footing.
Overall Thoughts
If you’re someone who loves Halloween vibes, cozy monster romance, and quick reads, this series is definitely worth checking out.
While the first book didn’t completely win me over, the second installment showed noticeable improvement and made the series more enjoyable overall. These are the kind of books I’d recommend when you want something light, cozy, and seasonal, especially during fall or in Hunts case, Valentine's day.
They’re not the kind of reads I’d scream about from the rooftops, but they’re still fun, comforting, and easy to get through, which can be exactly what you need sometimes.
I will be posting a review of Hunt which is the third installment for the series next. I received Hunt as an ARC reader so I felt it important to give it its own space.
With that said, I'll see you after the last page. 🤎
