Bride of Ash and Dust๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ–ค by Meredith Hart Review

 ๐Ÿšจ DISCLAIMER ๐Ÿšจ

I was sent an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Bride of Ash and Dust by Meredith Hart was such a solid start to what I think is going to be a really addictive romantasy series.

One thing that stood out right away was the chapter structure. Super short chapters with alternating POVs between the two main characters. At first, it threw off the pacing for me a bit. It felt a little too choppy, like the story couldn’t quite settle. But as the book went on, it definitely evened out. The chapters stay short, but the flow improves and starts to feel more intentional.

And listen, no spoilers, but Lilias eating the wedding cake off the sword?๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Yeah. That was probably my favorite moment. Absolute power move. I was obsessed.

Also, Zarek. We love Zarek. Period. That man can get it. The way he shut down that disgusting “men don’t have a stopping point” mindset?? Immediate respect. Because the rage I felt reading Lilias’s backstory tied to that belief…yeah, no. Not here for it. Zarek calling it out the way he did? Top tier.

Toward the end, things got a little messy for me. There are some gaps in the storytelling where it feels like events happen between chapters that we don’t fully see. Some of it gets explained later, but the structure makes it feel a bit disjointed. Kind of like you missed a step and had to backtrack. It didn’t ruin the story, but it did pull me out a couple of times.

That said, I really loved the core of this book. The tension between the main characters? ๐ŸคŒ๐Ÿป Chefs kiss. This is a true slow burn and I mean the kind that’s borderline agonizing in the best way. The fantasy elements were engaging, the chemistry is there, and I’m definitely invested in where this series is going next.

If you love slow burn romantasy with strong tension, dual POV, and moments that make you want to scream into a pillow, this one is worth picking up.
